About the Zoid series
Zoid is designed as a “ceramic android” – a three‑dimensional tile that combines sharp geometry with soft, flowing glazes. The tapered bevel catches light and shadow, making walls and floors look more architectural compared to standard flat subway tiles.
The collection offers both classic neutrals and deep accent tones. Items like ZO2‑100 and ZO2‑200 bring clean white and soft beige, while ZO2‑500, ZO2‑600 and ZO2‑900 introduce dramatic green, brown and almost‑black glazes for bolder spaces. Matching flat tiles in the same colours are available for some codes, allowing combinations of relief and flat surfaces in one design.
Formats and structure
Zoid comes in two main formats to fit different layout ideas:
-
ZOID I – Small flat tapered tile: 108×60 mm with a variable thickness of approximately 14.5 mm; about 135 pieces are needed per square metre, packed 108 sheets per case at around 20 kg.
-
ZOID II – Two‑piece taper tile: 227×60 mm with 14.5 mm stepped thickness; around 65 pieces per square metre and 54 sheets per case, also approx. 20 kg.
Each tile is made from porcelain (BI type) with a high‑quality glaze, and every batch is intentionally varied so no two pieces look exactly the same. Gentle iridescence may appear in certain colours, giving surfaces a subtle metallic glow.
Applications and performance
Zoid is suitable for indoor walls and floors, bathroom floors, as well as outdoor walls and paved beds in climates requiring frost protection. The strong porcelain body and structured surface make it a good option for entrances, corridors and feature stairs when installed according to local standards.
For colours such as ZO‑500 / ZO2‑500 (Oribe green) and ZO‑600 / ZO2‑600 (Ame brown), acid washing should be avoided to preserve the depth and character of the glaze. During installation, the joints must be fully filled with adhesive and grout so that the joint depth is no more than half of the tile thickness.
Important installation notes
Because Zoid tiles have pronounced bevels and non‑uniform glazes, slight differences in shape, colour width and surface texture are normal and part of the design concept. The “ant‑like” foot shape on the back aids adhesion, but joint material must be packed carefully to support the relief edges.
Iridescence, tonal variation and shadow lines will be more visible under grazing light; viewing physical samples in the actual project lighting is recommended before final selection.
